Your Love Endures Forever

(from Psalm 118)

This is another wonderful psalm, a hymn of gratitude.  We have so much to be thankful for, more than we can possibly comprehend.  But if the Spirit of God dwells within us, we have a taste of His goodness and enduring love.  We also have a shiver in us about the Day of the Lord, which we will survive because of His mercy.

Because of the ultimate issues of good and evil, we have been equipped with the power to stand up, free from the fear that’s brought on by guilt and shame.  What can a man do to me?  You Lord, are always with me and I can triumph over my enemies because of You.  We must not trust in princes or other influential people.  Even in the worst case, when spiritual enemies swarm like angry bees against us, we can cut them off in Jesus’ Name.  The day will come when they will burn up like dry thorns.

The Right Hand that has done mighty deeds, and has lifted us on high, is Jesus.  He sits at the Right Hand of God in Heaven, as it says in Ephesians 1:20 –21.  All rule and authority and power and dominion and every title given… God has placed under His feet.  Then, in Ephesians 2:6, it says we are made to sit with Christ at the Right Hand of God, as well.  It’s from this place, where we have our Father’s ear that we can pray and take authority over evil.

So, what can a man do to us?  He can kill our bodies but he cannot kill our souls.  We are purified with fiery trials here on earth, but only for a little while.  And, we have the Spirit inside us so we can endure them.  We have not been given over to death, but to life forever with our very good Lord!
